Condors Varsity Recap - Nov 10th - 16th
It was another competitive and spirited week across the varsity landscape for the Conestoga Condors, featuring strong road performances, high-energy home games, and standout finishes at the OCAA Badminton Invitational!
Badminton – OCAA Invitational at Fanshawe (Nov 14 to 16)
It was a strong weekend for the Condors as multiple athletes earned deep runs and flight victories across all categories.
Men’s Singles

Ryan Tu reached the B Flight Semifinals.

Max Barnes captured the C Flight title, defeating teammate Nolan Bridge in an all-Condors final.

Nolan Bridge finished C Flight Runner Up.

Boldizsar Sio advanced to the C Flight Semifinals.
Women’s Singles

Mariam Muqeem reached the B Flight Semifinals.

Ayshanur Janybek finished as D Flight Runner Up.
Men’s Doubles

Max Barnes and Akashdeep Singh advanced to the B Flight Semifinals.
Women’s Doubles

Mariam Muqeem and Xin (Fanshawe) earned 3rd place in a strong field.
Mixed Doubles

Ryan Tu and Ayush Janybek reached the C Flight Semifinals.

Max Barnes and Mariam Muqeem won the D Flight title, closing out a strong weekend for the pair.
Women’s Volleyball
The Condors battled through two road contests this week, splitting matches against Humber and Redeemer.
3 to 2 loss @ Humber
In a five-set thriller, Conestoga pushed the undefeated Hawks to the limit before falling 3 to 2 in a tightly contested match.
Bianca Marchetti led the attack with 19 kills and 21 points while Madison Welmers added 11 kills and 13 points.
Setter Althea Rabano recorded 46 assists and 4 blocks, guiding the offence across all five sets.
3 to 0 win @ Redeemer
The Condors bounced back with a decisive straight-sets victory on Saturday.
Bianca Marchetti continued her strong play, finishing with 12 kills and 15 points, while Madison Welmers added 8 kills.
Conestoga’s serving was a major factor, with 12 total aces, including 6 from Rabano and 3 from Marchetti.
Men’s Volleyball
The men’s team also split their week, opening with a dominant sweep before falling in a competitive match at Redeemer.
3 to 0 win @ Humber
Conestoga delivered one of its strongest performances of the season, hitting .284 as a team and controlling all three sets to capture a program first road victory at Humber.
Tyrell Belgrove powered the offence with 13 kills, while Walker Kalin added 10 kills.
Setter Yannick Krauss contributed 27 assists and anchored the defensive side with 7 digs.
3 to 1 loss @ Redeemer
Despite strong efforts from the attacking group, Conestoga fell 3 to 1 in a hard-fought match.
Kalin led the team with 12 kills, while Adam Leblanc hit an efficient .667 with 8 kills.
Krauss tallied 30 assists and 12 digs to pace the Condors on both sides of the ball.
Women’s Basketball
63 to 56 win vs Sheridan
The Condors picked up a clutch home victory behind balanced scoring and strong rebounding!
Adri Kellerman and Maddie Johnson each scored 14 points, with Johnson also pulling down 11 rebounds.
Jamila Beckford added 13 points and 18 rebounds, while Savana Fries provided a big spark off the bench with 16 points and 11 boards.
Conestoga outscored Sheridan in the fourth quarter to secure the win on home court, powered by key defensive stops and timely buckets.
Men’s Basketball
86 to 80 loss vs Sheridan
The Condors came out strong, leading after the first quarter, but Sheridan surged late to take the win.
Emanuel Liyaw had a standout performance with 30 points and 15 rebounds for a dominant double-double.
Ladera Obang added 16 points and 8 assists, while Luka Philavong chipped in 7 points and 4 assists.
Despite shooting over 50 percent in the first and third quarters, Conestoga could not keep pace in the final frame where Sheridan edged out the difference.
Men’s Rugby
OCAA Bronze Medal Game – 26 to 22 loss @ Georgian
In a gritty and emotional season finale, the Condors held a narrow halftime lead before the host Grizzlies used late pressure and favourable field position to swing momentum. Georgian scored twice in the final ten minutes to claim bronze.
