Condors Varsity Recap - Feb 2nd - 8th
The Condors continued the stretch run of the winter schedule with home volleyball matches against Redeemer, key basketball contests at Lambton and at home versus Niagara, and an OCAA badminton invitational hosted at the Student Recreation Centre. Women’s volleyball pushed Redeemer to five sets in a Friday night match, men’s volleyball also went the distance in a five-set contest, and men’s basketball split the week highlighted by a home victory over Niagara. With one regular season basketball game remaining on Senior Night, the Condors continue to prepare for the upcoming OCAA playoffs.
Men’s Basketball
Feb. 4 | at Lambton | L, 75-68
Conestoga led 27-20 after the first quarter before Lambton responded in the second. The Condors finished with 42 points in the paint and 16 second-chance points, while Lambton recorded 22 points off turnovers.

Conestoga built a 40-27 halftime lead and extended the advantage in the fourth quarter. The Condors held a 63-30 rebounding edge and produced 48 points in the paint along with 28 second-chance points.

Conestoga recorded 62 kills and forced a fifth set after dropping the opening frame, with multiple attackers contributing to the offence.

Men’s Volleyball
Feb. 6 | vs Redeemer | L, 3-2 (28-30, 25-20, 25-21, 20-25, 12-15)
The Condors claimed sets two and three before Redeemer won the fifth set. The match included a career milestone as Walker Kalin surpassed 1,000 career points in his final career match on home court. Walker has been the leader of the Condors program for the past five years and leaves a legacy of strength and composure.

Badminton
The Conestoga Badminton team hosted an OCAA Invitational Tournament at the Student Recreation Centre on Saturday, Feb. 7 and Sunday, Feb. 8. The Condors showed promise and growth as they continue to prepare for the OCAA Championship, being hosted by Seneca Polytechnic on Feb. 20 and 21.

Two standout performances earning the spotlight this week.
Bianca Marchetti | Women’s Volleyball
Bianca led the Condors in a five set match with Redeemer, posting 20 kills and 21 total points while adding 14 digs on the defensive side. She recorded 64 attack attempts in the match.
Emanuel Liyaw | Men’s Basketball
Emanuel combined for 42 points and 27 rebounds in two games. He recorded 23 points and 16 rebounds at Lambton and added 19 points and 11 rebounds in the home game against Niagara.
Well deserved recognition for two athletes setting the standard for the Condors.
