Condors Varsity Recap January 13th - 19th

Conestoga Condors Weekly Recap: January 13th-19th, 2025 

The Conestoga Condors showcased their talents and determination this week, delivering strong performances across basketball and volleyball. Here’s a look at their action-packed week: 


Condors Volleyball 

Women’s Volleyball 

January 15: The Conestoga Women's Volleyball team fought hard for a thrilling 3-2 victory over the Redeemer Royals. After taking the first two sets, they stayed strong and powered through a comeback in the final set, winning 15-9. Abby Sluys led the way with 15 kills and 17 points, while Bianca Marchetti added 15 kills and 11 digs. Madison Welmers also had an impact with 7 kills and 4 service aces. 

January 18: The Condors faced the Humber Hawks in a 3-1 loss. Despite the loss, the Condors had standout performances. Madison Welmers led the team with 12 kills and 15 points, showing her strong presence at the net. Bianca Marchetti added 10 kills and 12 points, contributing to the offensive effort. Althea Rabano set up 31 assists and helped defensively with 7 digs.  


Men’s Volleyball 

January 15: The Conestoga Men's Volleyball team delivered a dominant 3-0 performance against Redeemer. They showed strong offense and defense throughout with set scores of 25-12, 25-22, and 25-21. Ryan Hackbart was outstanding with 7 kills and 9 points, Florian Vogt Kehler contributed with 2 service aces and 3 blocks, and Yannick Krauss excelled with 23 assists. 

January 18: The Condors pulled off an exciting 3-1 win against the previously undefeated Humber Hawks. The dynamic duo of Walker Kalin and Tyrell Belgrove dominated the match contribubting 18 and 17 points respectively. Ben Mollink contributed with several timely kills finishing with 10 points, while Yannick Krauss delivered an impressive 37 assists and 19 digs. The 37 assists also moved Krauss into the total assists lead in the OCAA with 446 thus far this season. The Condors demonstrated impressive resilience and teamwork, controlling the match from the first serve. The Condors are now 9-5 for the season, sitting 4th in the OCAA West. 


Condors Basketball 

Men’s Basketball 

January 15: The Conestoga Men’s Basketball team secured a 79-73 victory against Redeemer in a thrilling matchup. Emanuel Liyaw led the charge with an impressive double-double, scoring 18 points and grabbing 15 rebounds. Landon Hart added 13 points and 7 rebounds, while Kevon Nath made an impact off the bench with 11 points. The Condors displayed excellent team play with 24 assists and shot 46.5% from the field. 

January 18: Although the Condors fought strongly, they lost against Sheridan, losing 79-71. Landon Hart led the way with 19 points and 13 rebounds. Emanuel Liyaw also had a solid game, putting up 17 points and grabbing 17 rebounds. William Buffong scored 12 points off the bench. The Condors played hard, but turnovers made it tough to come out on top. 


Women’s Basketball 

January 15: Despite a strong fourth-quarter rally in Women's Basketball, the Condors lost to Redeemer 65-53. Andie Maylen led the team with 21 points, including two three-pointers. Jamila Beckford recorded a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds. While the Condors faced challenges with shooting efficiency, their determination, and effort were evident throughout the game. 

January 18: The Condors played an outstanding game, securing a big 68-39 win over Sheridan. Maddy Weber led the team with 26 points and 18 rebounds, showing her all-around skill. Jamila Beckford was a strong presence, adding 9 points and 9 rebounds, while Andie Maylen also contributed 13 points. The Condors dominated the boards, grabbing 59 rebounds to Sheridan’s 38, and held Sheridan to just 19.4% shooting.
