Condors Varsity Recap - Jan 12 to 18
Week in Review (Jan. 12 to 18)
The Condors opened the varsity calendar for 2026 with four teams in action across the week. Basketball picked up a pair of home wins over Redeemer on Wednesday, volleyball opened with road matches at Fanshawe, and the week wrapped with volleyball hosting Mohawk on Friday and a Saturday basketball doubleheader at home against Humber.
Men’s Basketball
Jan. 14 | vs Redeemer | W, 90-78
Conestoga hit 90 points behind 51.5% shooting and controlled the interior with 56 points in the paint. The Condors also received a big lift from their bench, finishing with 50 bench points.

Jan. 17 | vs Humber | L, 78-68
Humber led 24-17 after the first quarter and 39-28 at halftime, and the Condors were unable to fully close the gap despite a 24-24 fourth quarter. Conestoga scored 52 points in the paint and posted 19 points off turnovers, but Humber held a 54-38 edge in rebounds and finished with 19 second-chance points.

Women’s Basketball
Jan. 14 | vs Redeemer | W, 61-42
The Condors opened 2026 with a strong defensive showing, holding Redeemer to 30.0% shooting and forcing 32 turnovers. Conestoga turned those miscues into 24 points off turnovers in the win.

Humber built an early lead and generated offence in the paint with 44 points inside, but the Condors stayed locked in defensively and continued to push the pace, battling to the final buzzer.

Conestoga opened the semester with a five-set road win, responding after a first-set loss and closing with a 15-13 decision in the fifth. Tyrell Belgrove led the offence, while Ben Mollink provided efficient production and strong work at the net.

The Condors earned a key third-set response to extend the match, but Mohawk closed it out in four. Tyrell Belgrove paced the offence again, while Walker Kalin and Yannick Krauss delivered all-around contributions.

Conestoga opened the week with a road match at Fanshawe. Bianca Marchetti led the Condors with nine kills, with Grace McLean and Madison Welmers adding offence in the three-set match.

The Condors forced a fifth set after dropping the first two, winning sets three and four by 25-23 scores to push the match the distance. Bianca Marchetti led Conestoga with 18 kills and 15 digs, and Althea Rabano added four aces in a five-set battle.
