Kelly McGuire Named Head Coach of Men’s Volleyball
The Conestoga Condors are excited to announce the return of alumnus Kelly McGuire as Head Coach of the men’s volleyball program. A former Condor setter and experienced coach at the collegiate and provincial levels, McGuire brings a wealth of leadership and passion back to the team.
McGuire’s journey with the Condors began as a student-athlete, where he played two seasons as the team’s setter. After his playing career, he moved into coaching, serving as an associate coach before stepping into the head coach role for the men’s program. Under his leadership, the Condors achieved their first national ranking and later secured a regular season title.
In addition to guiding the men’s program, McGuire also spent time leading the women’s volleyball team, helping the program achieve some of its strongest seasons in recent years. His impact was recognized across the conference when he was named OCAA Women’s Volleyball Coach of the Year in 2023.
Alongside his collegiate experience, McGuire has been a long-time coach with Team Ontario on both the indoor and beach sides. His highlight came as head coach of Ontario’s men’s beach volleyball team, where he guided the squad to a bronze medal at the Canada Summer Games. He has also been involved with Canada’s men’s beach national team program in Toronto.
Now back at his alma mater, McGuire is eager to continue building a winning culture. “As a Condor alumnus, it feels special to be back in the gym where I spent so many years,” McGuire said. “We have a strong group of returning athletes and a culture of hard work and accountability. The team has every chance to compete for the highest honours this season.”
With his proven track record, strong ties to the program, and commitment to high-performance culture both on and off the court, McGuire is ready to lead the Condors men’s volleyball team into an exciting new chapter.
The men's volleyball season gets underway with the team's home opener on Sunday, October 19th against the St Clair Saints at 4pm at the Student Recreation Centre.
