Overview 

The Media Production Assistant will assist the Sport and Recreation Media Coordinator by providing support in the broadcast of varsity athletics events. Duties include: setting up and operating media production equipment (OBS, Cameras, Scoreboard Control, etc). Assisting with the production and scheduling of media assets for web distribution, social media distribution, and print (video editing and graphic design). The position will be based at the Doon Campus or Fountain St. Soccer Complex, depending on the location of varsity game days. Work hours will be scheduled according to departmental needs. The rate of pay is $18.82 per hour. The start date is August 2026.

 

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Setting up and operating video production and streaming equipment during varsity sports events.                                                                                                                                  

  • Creating and publishing social media content in support of Condors recreation, esports, and varsity athletics. 

  • Communicating effectively with Sport and Recreation Media Coordinator and other department staff for production needs and feedback. Interpreting departmental requests, meeting with stakeholders to create communication calendars, review draft graphics, etc. 

  • Distributing printed materials throughout the Recreation Centre, engaging in student discussion to share resources, hanging material throughout college campus. 

  • Researching and presenting new ideas from the broadcast and marketing industry. 

  • Other duties as assigned 

 

Qualifications

  • Be in a full-time degree, diploma or certificate program in the Fall 2026 semester, that has been approved for funding by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities (MTCU) 

  • Maintain a full-time course load Fall 2026 term. Part time studies may be allowed for students who are registered with Accessibility Services and require a reduced load 

  • Maintain a satisfactory academic progress – passing 60% of courses and actively progressing through program 

  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN) 

  • Available to work daytime, evening and/or weekend work hours 

  • Experience with media production and broadcasting.  

  • Experience in streaming content on popular platforms (OBS). 

  • Experience using camera and video camera equipment. 

  • Strong audio-visual skills. 

  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal). 

  • Knowledge of graphic design and video editing (Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Illustrator, etc)
