Overview 

The Esports Facility and Content Assistant is a key role that supports the day-to-day operations of Conestoga’s esports facilities and activities — both in the esports facilities and at satellite campus events. The incumbent should be passionate about video games and esports, and eager to develop skills across IT support, media production, event hosting, and community engagement. 

Facility and Content Assistants help ensure that esports spaces are operated safely, efficiently, and inclusively for a wide range of users. They assist with hardware/software troubleshooting, live stream production, content creation, and promotional efforts. The incumbent will contribute to the ongoing growth of Condors Esports by gathering usage data and student feedback to inform programming and enhance the student experience.

Work hours will be scheduled according to departmental needs. The rate of pay is $18.82 per hour. The start date is August 2026.

 

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Support day-to-day operations of Conestoga’s esports facilities, including gaming PCs, consoles, AV, and peripheral equipment. 

  • Act as the primary tech support during shifts, troubleshooting hardware/software issues for users and ensuring smooth facility use. 

  • Assist with event setup and teardown, ensuring the space is ready for academic, varsity, and recreational use. 

  • Deliver frontline customer service to students and visitors, helping guide participation in programming and activities. 

  • Capture and create content (photos, videos, graphics) for social media, livestreams, and internal promotional use. 

  • Contribute to livestream production, including setup, monitoring, and use of overlays and signage for events. 

  • Gather and report data on student participation, equipment usage, and feedback to improve esports offerings. 

  • Operate and maintain equipment through routine inspections, software updates, and cleanliness standards. 

  • Use platforms like ggLeap to check in students and manage facility access. 

  • Collaborate with internal departments and external partners to support varsity teams, events, and content strategies. 

 

Qualifications

  • Be in a full-time degree, diploma or certificate program in the Fall 2026 semester, that has been approved for funding by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities (MTCU). 

  • Maintain a full-time course load Fall 2026 term, unless on a scheduled academic break. Part time studies may be allowed for students who are registered with Accessibility Services and require a reduced load 

  • Maintain a satisfactory academic progress – passing 60% of courses and actively progressing through program 

  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number 

  • Available to work daytime, evening and/or weekend work hours 

  • Proficient in the field of IT 

  • Knowledge of esports equipment, events, and popular games (PC and/or Console)  

  • Strong technical & problem-solving skills 

  • Strong customer service skills  

  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
